Delhi Schools and colleges remains shut

All schools, colleges, and universities in Delhi will remain closed till Sunday, July 16, and government offices, except those providing essential services, will resort to working from home, CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday. The decision has been taken in view of the rise in the water level of Yamuna River which was recorded as 208.65 m at 5 PM on Thursday. After the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on the flood-like situation in the city, Kejriwal said, "We had a DDMA meeting. Several important decisions were taken. Schools, colleges & universities will remain closed till Sunday. All government offices, except those providing essential services, will have to work from home till Sunday. Advisory is being issued for private offices to do the same."

The CM further said that NDRF teams have been deployed and will request for more if the situation demands. "NDRF teams are deployed, if needed we will request more. Also, arrangements have been made for more NDRF relief boats. We expect the water to recede by tomorrow," he said. India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that South-West Delhi and nearby areas are likely to receive light to moderate-intensity rain on Thursday. The Noida district administration has also instructed all schools in Noida and Greater Noida to remain closed on Friday (July 14) due to the rising water level of Yamuna. "Due to the high level of water in Yamuna after heavy rains and in view of chances of rain, the district magistrate has ordered closure of all schools of all boards on July 14 in Noida and Greater Noida," District Inspector of Schools Dharmveer Singh said.
